Privacy Policy
Who we are
Muhurtha.app ("Muhurtha," "we," "us") is developed by Hari Sudhakar, based in Australia. This policy explains what data the Muhurtha.app mobile application (Android and iOS) collects, why, and how you can control it.

What Muhurtha.app is designed to do
Muhurtha.app computes Panchang (Hindu calendar), Muhurta (auspicious timing), and Sankalpam information astronomically, on-device, for any location on Earth. The app is designed to work fully offline for its core calendar/timing features — your birth details, location, and ritual/practice usage are not required to be sent to any server for the app to function.
Data we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run the app reliably, fix crashes, and process subscriptions.
Analytics, crash reporting, and performance diagnostics are opt-in and off by default. The first time you open the app, you're asked whether to share anonymous diagnostics — if you decline, none of the Firebase-related rows below run at all. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Share Diagnostics.
| Category | What, exactly | Why | Linked to you? | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Location (coarse + fine) | Device location, used to determine your city/timezone for Panchang, Muhurta, and Sankalpam calculations | Core feature — panchang timings are location-dependent | No — used locally to run the calculation | No. Used on-device for the calculation itself; never transmitted to us or any analytics SDK. |
| App usage analytics (Firebase Analytics) — opt-in, off by default | Event names only — e.g. paywall shown, plan selected, panchang date changed, muhurta viewed, festival viewed, share tapped, reminder created/deleted, location set, language selected, engine errors | Understand feature usage in aggregate, catch calculation-engine errors | No user ID or ad ID attached | Only if you allow diagnostics — event names and basic parameters go to Firebase/Google as our analytics processor |
| Crash & performance diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Performance) — opt-in, off by default | Crash logs, stack traces, app performance metrics | Fix bugs and performance issues | Device-level, not identity-level | Only if you allow diagnostics — to Firebase/Google |
| Subscription/purchase data (RevenueCat + Apple/Google IAP) | Purchase status, plan/tier selected, billing events | Manage your subscription entitlement (free vs. premium) | Yes, to the extent needed to restore your purchase on other devices | Yes — to RevenueCat and Apple/Google as payment processor. We never see or store your card details. |
| Notification token | Push notification token, for reminders you set | Deliver the reminders you asked for | Device-level | Only if push notifications are enabled |
What we deliberately do not collect
- We do not send your religious/spiritual practice activity to any third party. Sankalpam views and Sadhana check-ins are not tracked by analytics — not even as an anonymous, zero-parameter event. This was a deliberate decision because that activity can qualify as special-category religious data under privacy law (e.g. GDPR Article 9), and we don't consider even anonymized tracking of it acceptable given what this app is used for.
- We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not do cross-app or cross-site tracking (no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown on iOS because there is nothing to opt into).
- We do not collect your name, email, or other directly-identifying profile information unless you contact us directly.
- We do not sell your data.
Location data in detail
Because location determines your Panchang/Muhurta timings, the app requests location access. This is used entirely on-device by the calculation engine (built on the Swiss Ephemeris library). Your precise coordinates are not transmitted to us, to Firebase, or to any analytics or advertising service. You can also set your location manually inside the app instead of granting device location access.
Third-party services we use
- Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance (Google) — usage analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring. firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- RevenueCat — subscription management. revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple App Store / Google Play Billing — payment processing, per Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.
Your choices and rights
- You can use all core Panchang/Muhurta/calendar features fully offline, without granting location access, by entering your city manually.
- Analytics, crash reporting, and performance diagnostics are off by default. You choose whether to enable them the first time you open the app, and can change that choice at any time in Settings → Share Diagnostics.
- You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. EU/UK, California, India), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal identity-linked data, most requests can be satisfied by contacting support.
- Uninstalling the app stops all local and analytics data collection from that device going forward.
How to delete your data
Muhurtha.app does not use accounts or logins — there is no profile stored on our servers to delete. Here's exactly what deleting your data involves for each category we collect:
- Analytics events, crash logs, performance diagnostics (Firebase): these are not tied to your name or email. To request deletion of any data associated with your device, email [email protected] from the device or with the approximate dates you used the app, and we'll submit a deletion request to Firebase on your behalf.
- Purchase/subscription history: held by Apple/Google and RevenueCat, tied to your App Store/Play account, not to us. Manage or delete this via your Apple ID or Google Account data controls directly, since we don't hold a copy ourselves.
- Uninstalling the app immediately stops all further data collection from that device.
For any request not covered above, email [email protected] and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children's privacy
Muhurtha.app is a general-audience calendar/utility app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your country).
Changes to this policy
If we change what data we collect (e.g. adding a new SDK or feature), we will update this page and the in-app store privacy declarations (Apple App Privacy label, Google Play Data safety section) before the corresponding app update ships.
