Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Muhurtha.app ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What the App does
Muhurtha.app computes Panchang, Muhurta, and Sankalpam timing information using astronomical calculations (via the Swiss Ephemeris engine) combined with traditional Vedic astrology methods. It is a calculation and reference tool.
3. Accuracy disclaimer
Panchang, Muhurta, and Sankalpam timings shown in this App are computed using astronomical algorithms and established traditional methods. They are provided for general reference and planning purposes.
- For ceremonies, rituals, or decisions with significant personal, religious, or financial consequence (weddings, Griha Pravesh, major religious ceremonies, and similar), we strongly recommend consulting a qualified priest, astrologer, or religious authority in addition to using this App.
- Panchang conventions vary by regional tradition, sampradaya, and calculation school. The App defaults to the Lahiri ayanamsha (also offering KP and Raman as alternative settings) and uses sunrise/solar-midnight-based civil-day conventions, cross-verified against Drik Panchang, and may not match every regional or lineage-specific convention.
- We do not guarantee the App's output matches what a specific priest, temple, or regional almanac would independently calculate for the same date and location.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any consequence arising from reliance on timings provided by the App, including but not limited to a ceremony being performed at a time you later believe was incorrect.
4. Subscriptions
Muhurtha.app offers free features and an auto-renewing paid subscription ("Premium") unlocking additional features (see the in-app paywall for current pricing and included features).
- Billing: All subscription purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store billing systems, not directly by us. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings or Google Play subscriptions settings — not through the App directly or by contacting us.
- Refunds: Refund requests for in-app purchases must be made to Apple or Google directly, per their respective refund policies.
- Price/term changes: Current price, billing term, and any free trial length are disclosed on the in-app purchase screen before you buy.
5. Intellectual property
The App, its design, calculation logic, and content (excluding third-party festival/calendar data and open-source components, see below) are owned by Hari Sudhakar. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, redistribute, or create derivative works from the App except as permitted by applicable law.
6. Third-party components and data
- Panchang/Muhurta calculations rely on the Swiss Ephemeris library, used under a commercial license from Astrodienst AG.
- Festival names, dates, and regional calendar variant data are curated in-house and cross-verified against Drik Panchang (drikpanchang.com).
- Fonts used for non-Latin scripts (Devanagari, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, etc.) are used under their respective open licenses (e.g. Noto fonts, SIL Open Font License).
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the calculation engine or proprietary logic.
- Circumvent subscription/paywall restrictions through unauthorized means.
8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hari Sudhakar is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the App, including reliance on any Panchang, Muhurta, or Sankalpam timing it provides (see Section 3).
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction (e.g. Australian Consumer Law guarantees, EU/UK consumer rights).
9. Changes to the App or these Terms
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Material changes (e.g. new data collection, pricing changes) will be reflected in an updated Privacy Policy/App Privacy declarations and, where required, disclosed before you're asked to accept an update.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This does not remove any consumer-law protections you are entitled to in your own country of residence (e.g. California Automatic Renewal Law, EU/UK digital consumer rights) where those apply based on where you use the App, not where we are incorporated.
